Most speed classes deal with write speeds to SD cards. Its much easier to get faster read speeds compared to writing quickly to an SD card. So, if you're only concern is opening a PDF file, I'd guess that the rendering engine will be more the bottleneck compared to the actual data transfer speed. 1. TheFakeBigChungus • 1 yr. ago.
According to this test. The Extreme Plus can write at 61 MB/s and the Extreme can write at 44 MB/s. That's a big enough difference for me to spend the extra 30%. Canaris1 • 8 yr. ago. I bought a Sandisk Ultra and although it's good for 1080p shooting I can't use it on 4 k.. wish I knew that before I bought it.
Sandisk Ultra (Best budget cards) Sandisk Extreme (Best performer) PNY (Solid overall) Lexar (Not recommended) Hey guys! We tested and compared 5 different micro sd cards for the steam deck. We compared read and write speeds, loading times between the cards and the emmc storage, as well as the gb per dollar value.
Best minimal storage. The Samsung microSDHC EVO Select boasts read speeds of up to 95MB/sec. This listing also includes an SD adapter, which is useful on older computers. This card is great if you want a little extra storage just in case and aren't planning on installing many games from the Nintendo eShop.
Samsung Evo Plus. Lexar Play. 1. SanDisk Extreme microSDXC. Naturally, the best microSD card for Steam Deck should be as big as possible without sacrificing its read speeds - no disrespect to
Samsung Evo Pro Plus vs SanDisk Ultra. I'm currently looking at the above mentioned micro SD cards (at 512GB size) and the price difference isn't that much. However, the Samsung Card is advertised at up to 160 MB/s read speeds while the SanDisk Ultra card is at about 120 to 130MB/s depending on what the listing says.
The 1tb you want if you are trying to save money (by sacrificing write speeds, meaning your downloads will take longer) and still retain the same in-game performance is the Sandisk Ultra 1tb. The Sandisk extreme costs more, writes faster, and performs the same in-game.
So A1 and A2 are great cards for smartphones, console and steamdeck. But most A2 will be tied to UHS-III/V90 so in most cases A1 will do just fine. Especially since steamdeck is limited to UHS-I support. Personally i would go with 512GB since the transfer speed is higher @ 30MB/S instead of 10MB/S for the 1TB card.
